Desktop as a service

Overview

Your iPhone or iPad can fully access your Vying.io cloud desktop using two apps:

  1. OpenVPN Connect → joins your device to our secure private network
  2. Microsoft Remote Desktop → connects to your Windows cloud PC (192.168.x.x)

Everything is encrypted, fast, and surprisingly easy to use.

1. Install OpenVPN Connect (iOS/iPadOS)

  1. Open the App Store
  2. Search for OpenVPN Connect
  3. Tap Get

This is the official VPN app we support.

2. Import Your .ovpn File

We send you a full .ovpn file, so you don’t need any extra certificates.

On your iPhone/iPad:

  1. Open Mail or WhatsApp (where we sent the file)
  2. Tap the .ovpn file
  3. Choose Copy to OpenVPN (or “Open in OpenVPN”)
  4. OpenVPN Connect will launch and show your profile
  5. Tap Add

Your profile is now imported.

3. Connect to the VPN

  1. Open OpenVPN Connect
  2. Tap the Connect switch
  3. Allow iOS to add a VPN configuration
  4. Wait until the switch turns green

When it says Connected, you are inside our private network.

Important:

Without VPN you cannot access your cloud desktop — it only exists inside 192.168.x.x ranges.

4. Install Microsoft Remote Desktop (iOS/iPadOS)

  1. Open App Store
  2. Search for Microsoft Remote Desktop
  3. Tap Get

This is the same RDP app used on Mac — optimized for touch.

5. Add Your Cloud Desktop

  1. Open Microsoft Remote Desktop
  2. Tap the + button
  3. Select Add PC
  4. In PC Name, enter your private IP: 192.168.x.x
  1. Tap User Account → Add User Account
  2. Enter the username & password we provided
  3. Tap Save

Your cloud desktop now appears on the main screen.

6. Connect to Your Cloud Desktop

With VPN ON:

  1. Tap on your cloud desktop tile
  2. The session opens and Windows loads
  3. You can now work normally: SAGA, Office, emails, documents, everything

7. Touch Controls & Keyboard

The app supports:

  • Touch gestures
  • On-screen keyboard
  • External keyboards
  • External mouse (iPad only)
  • Trackpad gestures (iPad Magic Keyboard)

If you have an iPad — it feels very close to a laptop.

8. Printing, Clipboard, and File Sharing

Because your cloud desktop is inside a secure VPN tunnel:

✔ Clipboard works

Copy/paste text between iPhone/iPad ↔ cloud desktop.

✔ File sharing via Files app

You can upload files through the Files app when apps support it.

✔ Printer forwarding (limited)

iOS can forward AirPrint printers through RDP, but not all models support this.

✔ Signing tokens

Most tokens need Windows drivers, so you must plug them into a PC/Mac, not iPhone/iPad.

(They still work perfectly on Windows/macOS clients.)

9. Troubleshooting

❌ “Cannot connect to PC”

Make sure:

  • VPN is ON and green
  • You’re typing the correct 192.168.x.x IP
  • You’re not on mobile data with weak signal
  • Microsoft RDP is up to date

❌ VPN won’t connect

  • Restart the app
  • Restart your iPhone/iPad
  • Check your time/date settings
  • Switch Wi-Fi networks if possible

❌ Keyboard not showing

Tap the keyboard icon in the top bar.

❌ Screen too small

Rotate your iPhone/iPad to landscape.

✔ Summary

To connect from iPhone or iPad:

  1. Install OpenVPN Connect
  2. Import the .ovpn file
  3. Connect VPN (green)
  4. Install Microsoft Remote Desktop
  5. Add your cloud PC using the private IP
  6. Tap to connect
  7. Start working

It’s simple, secure, and works anywhere you have internet.
