Desktop as a service

Overview

On Android, connecting to your Vying.io cloud desktop is also a two-step process:

  1. Connect to OpenVPN using the .ovpn profile we give you
  2. Use Microsoft Remote Desktop to connect to your private IP (192.168.x.x)

Everything works over your secure VPN tunnel — fast, encrypted, and stable.

🤖

1. Install OpenVPN Connect (Android)

  1. Open the Google Play Store
  2. Search for OpenVPN Connect
  3. Tap Install

This is the official OpenVPN client for Android.

📥

2. Import Your .ovpn Profile

We send you a complete .ovpn file, no extra certificates needed.

To import:

  1. Open your email/WhatsApp
  2. Tap on the .ovpn file
  3. Choose Open with OpenVPN Connect
  4. When the app opens, tap Import
  5. Confirm adding the new profile

Your VPN profile is now saved in the app.

🔌

3. Connect to the VPN

  1. Open OpenVPN Connect
  2. Tap the Connect button
  3. Grant VPN permission when Android asks
  4. The switch will turn green
  5. Status changes to Connected

When connected:

  • Your phone joins the Vying.io private network
  • You can reach your cloud desktop’s private IP
  • RDP becomes available

If OpenVPN fails, contact support — usually it’s a quick fix.

7. Touch Controls, Keyboard & Mouse Support

Microsoft RDP on Android supports:

  • Full touch controls
  • On-screen keyboard
  • Bluetooth keyboards
  • Bluetooth mice
  • Landscape mode for larger workspace
  • Trackpad simulation (with gestures)

Using a tablet makes the experience very close to a real laptop.

🖨️

8. Printing, Clipboard & File Sharing

Android supports most RDP features:

✔ Clipboard

Copy/paste text between Android ↔ cloud desktop.

✔ File transfer

Limited, but you can upload files using:

  • RDP folder redirection (“Storage Redirect”)
  • RDP menu → Redirect local storage

Then choose a folder from your phone.

✔ Printing

Some printers (especially via Wi-Fi Direct or standard drivers) can appear through RDP, but results vary by model.

✔ USB tokens

Android does not reliably pass USB signing tokens — those require Windows/macOS.

🛠️

9. Troubleshooting

❌ “Unable to reach PC”

  • VPN must be ON (green)
  • Check if private IP is correct
  • Try toggling airplane mode ON → OFF
  • Close and re-open Microsoft RDP

❌ VPN keeps disconnecting

  • Disable battery optimization for OpenVPN Connect
  • Try another Wi-Fi network
  • Restart your phone

❌ Slow or laggy desktop

  • Switch to 5 GHz Wi-Fi
  • Reduce animations inside Windows
  • Close background apps

If nothing improves — message us, we’ll check resources.
